Letters To My Daughter
On the 10th day of every month, I will write a letter to my daughter and attempt to capture her essence in photos and words. A few other special ladies will do so as well, and we will link our blogs in a circle of love and letters. After mine, please visit the blog of the lovely photographer, Jessica Singleton.
Below is the first of many letters and images dedicated to my Sofia – a dancing, whirling, moody, brilliant, joyous little soul. (Oh – and lest Kai feel left out – I’m sure there will be a “Letters To Our Sons” project coming soon.)
My darling, my sweet, my little Sofie bear. Your daddy and I joke that you will rule the world one day. You already rule ours.
You are a force of nature. Your will is so strong, as is your heart and joy. No day is as bright as those cloaked with your smiles and your laughter.
I don’t worry as much over your future as I do your sweet brother’s. For I know you will stand your ground always, and not be afraid to speak your mind. Your ability to articulate so much, so young astounds me and others who have the pleasure of being let into your little world.
And what a girly little world it is. Comprised of Barbies and ballerinas. Pink and glitter. It sparkles as brightly as you do.
I love being your mommy. Your smile melts me. I love the way you put little hands around my face and kiss me, whispering in my ear, “I have a present for you. . . I love you.”
Sofia Anela Vaughn – you delight and drive me to distraction daily. You challenge and charm in equal, adorable, 3-year-old measure.
And I wouldn’t have you any other way.
