Pieces of Life: A California walk
I’m embarking on a new project with a fabulous group of photographers, called Pieces of Life. Here, we’ve come together to celebrate life’s meaningful details. The stories we live. The small daily moments we savor. The details we will remember.
It has come at a perfect time. Lately, I’ve been trying to let go. To let my photos happen as life unfolds. The more I do, the more I find the charm in the unexpected. The imperfect. My kids dress themselves. And I want to remember all the silly, sweet, mismatched things Sofie wears. How she always must carry a purse, and wear leggings under her dresses. How Kai thinks he is a Ninja and must climb every tree he comes across. The way Daisy’s tail curves like a coil and the way walks take ten times longer than they should with the kids and dog along. The perfect outfit and posed moment can never compete. These are the memories I want to hold.
So here are the bits and pieces of an everyday walk on an everyday Sunday in November.
Check out the other inspiring women photographers who are part of this project and are sharing pieces of their own life. You may need a glass of wine or cup of coffee, because if you are like me, you will be lost in their work for far too long.
