To Langkawi with love
It’s been awhile. I’ve neglected my little world on the Web. You see, we’ve been busy this past year moving across the continents and settling into a whole new life. My family moved from San Francisco to Kuala Lumpur. It’s been a lot of planes, a lot of shopping (for cars, furniture — for everything). We’ve got new schools, new jobs, new sights, new sounds, and all new routines. I’d be lying if I said it was easy. The expat life can be hard. There are often higher highs, but lower lows. The stress of that first year in an entirely new land and culture, and the disconcerting feeling of having to start anew, yet again, is a low, for sure.
But the highs – ah the highs – make it worth it. We’ve gotten the once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore South East Asia. In the first year, we’ve gone from from Langkawi to Penang, Singapore to Thailand. I have many photos to share and posts to catch up on. But we have to start somewhere, so here’s one of our first trips we took within Malaysia. We got to cross one off the bucket list – staying in a water chalet in Langkawi – an archipelago made up of 99 islands off the West coast of Malaysia. And yes, it was as magical as it sounds.
