The day we watched the sun go down on the beach of Waikiki. It was one of those sunsets I remember from living there years ago, a sunset that makes the whole beach freeze. We all pause for the sun to hit the horizon. Hold your breath for that familiar orange gold fire. Wait for it. The green flash. The whole beach stopped, silent, focused on one event. Then the clapping starts, slow at first, then with growing enthusiasm, from the tourists and the beach boys and the children, all applauding nature’s best trick in unison. I love Waikiki at Sunset.
